Catching Bass In The Spring

I love fishing for bass in the Spring. It is my favorite time to fish and I've caught my biggest bass in April and May. I have found that the key to finding and catching bass during the Spring is surface water temperature. When I fish I keep a thermometer handy and monitor water temperature closely. Largemouth bass begin to spawn between 62 and 65 degrees. However, the temperature has to stabilize for a couple of days before the fish cooperate; they are not fooled easily.

Bass also prefer to spawn near objects of some kind. It might be a rock, log, grass, or a dock. This object probably makes them feel safer since the object provides a little more protection as they watch their eggs.

Watch the temp and go catch some big bass this Spring.
